The Controller role will manage accounting operations while supervising a team of accounting professionals, assigning tasks, setting deadlines, providing leadership and support, and participating in recruitment and reviews. The Wood Source is looking for someone to develop and execute a financial strategy, monitoring control systems for asset protection and accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities for the Controller will include, but not be limited to the following activities:

· Mentor and develop the accounting team, building roles & responsibilities and documenting tasks for successful cross training
· Oversees the financial operations of the company including the development of a financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
· In conjunction with the senior management team, develop an annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review financial plans and compare to actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
· Identifying and communicating opportunities and risks as they arise.
· Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
· Developing sound business models that enhance management’s ability to make business decisions to meet long term growth objectives.
· Complete monthly financial reporting process including; financial statement, government remittances, employee compensation etc.
· Assume cash management responsibilities, including forecasting, liaising with financial institutions, suppliers and clients.
Qualifications:
· 5+ years of financial leadership experience
· Proven team management and mentoring skills (2-3+ years of experience).
· Hands-on and engaged in team operations.
· Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or related field
· Proficiency in Canadian private enterprise accounting standards
· CPA designation preferred
· Competent user of Microsoft Office suite of products and complex ERP systems
