We stock a large inventory of hand hewn timbers from reclaimed framing lumbers, posts, and tie-beams. All timbers have been sourced from Canadian barns and are available in a variety of sizes and species.

Our reclaimed timbers are not available for purchase online. Please reach out with dimensions needed and we would be happy to provide a quote.

Species Available: Eastern white pine, hemlock, ash, elm, basswood, beech, and white oak (limited)

Bring Character to Your New Build or Renovation

Hand-hewn timbers are roughly square or rectangular beams shaped with a broad axe or adze and were used in timber frame construction.

Each piece displays distinctive axe marks, textures, and colours, resulting in a one-of-a-kind appearance.

Timber Standards

We grade all reclaimed material coming into our yard and only except timbers that meet our stringent standards.

Timbers range in length from 12' to 30' and from 4x4 to 14x14 (longer lengths and larger sizes sometimes available).

Hand Hewn on Four Faces

Hewn two side timber from log homes could be arranged by special order.

Consistent Size

Timbers are a fairly consistent size and do not have an excessive taper.

Limited Amounts of Wane

We only allow less than 20% of wane per face on any timber.

Limited Mortise Pockets

Mortises are permitted but are limited to one or two faces.

Looking for the charm of a hand hewn timber without the weight? Consider our hollow wood beam program.

We manufacture faux beams onsite from a variety of materials including reclaimed barn board and jacket boards to replicate a hand hewn timber. If you like the look of a reclaimed timber, but would like an easier-to-install option, our hollow wood beam products are the perfect choice.

Do you deliver reclaimed timbers?

Yes. We provide local delivery on our own trucks in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. 

We can also arrange third party shipping for Canada wide and USA sales. Please reach out for more information.
